Tumblr Tip: Screw the Tumblr Queue- Save Posts in “Drafts” Instead of Your Queue

March 22, 2011

I don’t know how many people this is or isn’t an issue for, but I have seen some posts where people were complaining about not getting the queue to work the way they wanted it to. And I agree. At least for me, the queue will not post things at the time I set them for, and I know if you save anything in it at all, at least one post from your queue will automatically post at some point in the day, because that is how the queue is set up. You can’t turn it off or select “0” posts to publish.

So I got fed up one day & said “Screw the Tumblr queue,” and I started saving posts as Drafts instead. I don’t have to worry about anything posting when I don’t want it to. I can just publish what I want when I’m ready. More work, yes, but I prefer it this way.

My guess is that some people have probably figured this “trick” out already, but for those that haven’t, there’s my advice. If you have no issue with the queue, then great. Ignore this post.

If this is new information to you that you think others could benefit from, feel free to reblog this. If it gets a lot of reblogs, maybe Tumblr will do something to fix it. Maybe

Personally for me I found #2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 15 and 16 especially true when it came to resume writing and interviewing. Lots of trial and error and in the end mimicking words from the job description helped a lot when I didn’t have a connection otherwise.
#1 will piss off a lot of people, as it did me. The only way I can think to get around that is to take whatever internships & temporary jobs you can, so it keeps few gaps on your resume. I’m going to have to get an unpaid internship one way or another (so it doesn’t mess with my unemployment right now)… →
